Woman caught shoplifting, child an accomplice By CHRISTOPHER TUFFLEY christopher.tuffley@newssun.com AVON PARK -- A 23-year old, unemployed woman went shopping at Walmart with three children Friday. They were 11, 5 and 1-year-old. The News-Sun has not established whether the woman was the children's mother. This is news because the woman went with no intention of paying for what she wanted to take home. Store security observed the woman in the children's clothing section removing price tags and putting clothing items into a large hand bag. One of the children was observed also removing a price tag from a pair of sandals and other items and putting them in the bag. The child proceeded to cover the clothing in the bag with a sweat shirt. The woman and three children went through check-out, paying for some items that were not in the bag.
They were stopped at the exit by store security and admitted guilt on being challenged. The amount of the items in the bag came to $220.77.
The woman was charged with one count of larceny, petite theft 1st degree, first offense and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a first degree misdemeanor. She was released the next day on $750 bond; $250 for the larceny and $500 for contributing to the delinquency of a child. I've been in Walmart before when they stopped a woman who had a little girl with her trying to go out the front door. It was obvious it was not her child too.
