Deputies search for missing teen

SEBRING - Highlands County sheriff's deputies are searching for missing juvenile, Jessica Swain. She is a 17-year-old white female with blonde hair and blue eyes, approximately 5-foot-5 tall and weighing approximately 178 pounds.

Nell Hayes, public information officer for the Highlands County Sheriff's Office, Jessica was last seen by her father on Thursday, Feb. 21 in the area of Lake Placid. At that time she was wearing camouflage pants, a tan T-shirt with Green Dragons embroidered on it, and tan boots. During the investigation it was reported Jessica was also seen on Monday, Feb. 25 at Lakeshore Mall.

Sheriff Susan Benton reminds everyone that according to Florida law, "A person may not knowingly provide aid to an unmarried minor who has run away from home without first contacting the minor's parent or guardian or notifying a law enforcement officer. The aid prohibited under this paragraph includes assisting the minor in obtaining shelter, such as hotel lodgings, etc. A person who violates this section commits a misdemeanor of the first degree."

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Jessica Swain is asked to contact the Highlands County Sheriff's Office Special Victim's Unit and Deputy Brian Giguere at 402-7357.
