SEBRING – City council members John Griffin and Scott Stanley have both earned themselves another term on the council following a close, and small, election race.
Of the 5,501 registered voters residing in the Sebring city limits, a mere 278 cast ballots for Tuesday’s election.
“We had a very low turn out, which is unfortunate. Other than that, it was a great election. There were no problems,” said Supervisor of Elections Penny Ogg of her first official election.
Stanley led the election with 195 votes (38.76 percent), Griffin received 156 votes (31.01 percent), and first-time runner Lenard Carlisle trailed just behind Griffin with 152 votes (30.21 percent). Ogg stated that the unofficial results will stand; a re-count is only conducted in the event there are two votes separating candidates in a race.
