Lake Placid man dies in airboat accident
LORIDA -- A 40-year-old Lake Placid man was killed in an airboat accident on Arbuckle Creek Monday.
According to Gary Morse of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Jessie D. Shirley left the dock at Neibert's Fishing Resort on U.S. 98 at around 1:30 a.m. on Monday.
Shirley's submerged body was found at 5:11 p.m. about 50 yards away from the airboat. Morse said Shirley hit a tree and was ejected from the airboat.
Morse said it was reported that Shirley had spent the day before the accident drinking alcohol, but it was unknown if he was under the influence at the time of the accident.

Ahab, is an answer to your question gonna make you and others sleep better at night? Chop yourself in the throat. That's a dumb question.

I don't think that matters to the family now, and its insensitive to even post that, he's gone, show some respect

For all of us it would be interesting to find out if he was wearing a personal floatation device while operating the air boat.
