LAKE PLACID -- A Lake Placid woman was killed on Sunday when her car struck a tree off of County Road 29 near Theo Lane.
Angela L. Jenkins, 36, was pronounced dead on the scene at 5:45 p.m. after she was ejected from her 1994 Chevy two-door when it struck a tree, according to a report form the Florida Highway Patrol.
The narrative by FHP Cpl. Al Middleton states that Jenkins appeared to be heading southbound on C.R. 29 when her vehicle veered off the roadway onto the east shoulder.
Jenkins over-corrected when she attempted to put her car back onto the road and spun in a clockwise direction.
Jenkins traveled back off the road at that point into the east shoulder, where her Chevy struck a tree on the driver's side.
Jenkins was ejected from the vehicle, Middleton reported.
As with all cases where a death occurs, a determination about alcohol being involved is listed as pending until a toxicology report is returned from the medical examiner's office.
Jenkins was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, the report stated.
