Another arrest in Doty case

Highlands County Sheriff’s Detectives have arrested Travis Makris in the ongoing investigation of the murder of Aaron Doty last month. Makris, 21 years of age, of 4530 Lakeview Dr., Sebring, is charged with Accessory After the Fact in the Death of Aaron Doty. He is alleged to have stored clothing and other evidence for the suspect Kenneth Felipe.Aaron Doty, 20 years of age, was last seen at a party at 5504 Granada Blvd. in the Sun ‘N Lakes subdivision in Sebring at approximately 4:30AM Sunday, June 10th.  At approximately 1:30PM on June 11th a burned body was found in the north end of the Sun ‘N Lakes Sebring subdivision and was confirmed to be Doty. Arrest warrants for Second Degree Murder, Abuse of a Dead Human Body and Tampering with Physical Evidence were issued for Jonathan Ray Rodriguez, 22 years of age, of 5504 Granada Blvd. in Sebring and Kenneth Filipe, 19 years of age, also of 5504 Granada Blvd., Sebring, in connection with this death. Rodriguez and Filipe were arrested on June 13th by the U.S. Marshal’s Service Task-Force operating out of Orlando.

Now with three additional arrests, Sheriff Susan Benton reiterated, “As detectives continue the painstaking investigation of evaluating every detail in this case, it is clear that several people participated in different ways in this horrific crime. What continues to disturb me is what appears to be such a lack of good conscience by so many people who were aware of the beating, the burning, or participated in attempting to cover up the crime. Parents, please I beg you, know where your kids are and who they are with.  Local law enforcement continues to see large party gatherings with drugs and alcohol even involving some of the same young folks who were involved in this case.  Who will be next, will it be your child?  Help us help you.”
