17 yr old kid?  (by: Concerned Family Man Avon Park  -   8/31/2012)

Who cares how old he is or the color of his skin. He fired a shot from a gun he held in his hand. He needs 10 years to think about it. Minimum!

Kids...  (by: FatHead1  -   8/28/2012)

As a former teen, I can't tell you the numerous times that I snuck out of my house, without even my LEO step dad even knowing. That doesn't mean his parents need a lecture. I also can't tell you the times I was staying at another friend's house, and we'd sneek out, or say we were going somewhere, and went somewhere else. Not all the blame should be put on the parents until ALL the facts come out. If they tied him to the bed to keep him from doing wrong, DCF would be at their door for child abuse. Now, there is NOTHING in the report about the minor being a bar patron that night. It states clearly that the shooting took place outside, in the PARKING LOT. He might have been outside waiting for someone to exit, and that doesn't make the bar responsible. Now, if it is found that the teen was a bar patron that night, then yes, the bar needs to be investigated for allowing a minor in. I'm 30 and I was immediately carded at the door. But I don't know if that is an every day occurence or not. It is sad, at 17, no you haven't really started life yet. I know we have to learn lessons the hard way, and it is rough. I will NEVER understand what makes a person pick up a gun and take aim for someone else, and attempt to actually kill them.

What about.....  (by: Rest my case  -   8/24/2012)

What about the parents and bar owner? Are they partially responsible also? Call DCF on the parents and investigate the bar owner for allowing under age in the premises. It seems that at Sierras Bar the police gets call every Wednesday for something. Close the bar down. This has been done in other cities in Florida when too many incidents occurs at a bar, they get shot down.

No doubt his family will say that he was home in bed at the time of the crime, and that he’s an A-student who sings in the choir at Church, helps his siblings with their homework, drives his disabled elderly neighbors to doctor appointments, and that the police are just harassing him because he is black. Then Al Joe Hinson and the NAACP will file a discrimination / violation of civil rights complaint.

He may look innocent, but; if he pulled the trigger he's guilty....17, 27, 37 or whatever.

ONE ?  (by: Concerned senior  -   8/23/2012)

Just one question is, "What the heck is a 17 year old doing out a BAR at that time of morning?" Seems to me he should have been home in bed hours before this! PARENTS...PLEASE GET A HANDLE ON YOUR KIDS or DON"T MAKE EM!"

Oh boy, now we'll hear how he was poorly potty trained, had to go to bed without having his ice cream and has to live in a state where that had slavery 140 years ago.

And to think...  (by: foodforthought  -   8/22/2012)

He hasn't really started life yet, not at 17...or has he? What a shame. In this photo he looks like he couldn't harm a fly.
