2-year-old girl dies in Spring Lake
Special to the News-Sun
SEBRING — Highlands County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are investigating the death of a 2-year-old girl in the Spring Lake subdivision Friday.
At approximately 2:15 p.m., Central Dispatch received a call that CPR was in progress on a child.
Paramedics responded however they were unable to resuscitate the child.
Rescuers were initially sent to an address on Wilson Terrace. However, a press release from the HCSO on Saturday said “the incident location has been determined to be 507 Ryan Road, Sebring. Exact cause of death will be determined by the District 10 Medical Examiner.”
Both the Criminal Investigations Unit and the Special Victims Unit are working the case, HCSO Public Information Officer Nell Hays said Saturday. She was unsure when the medical examiner would do an autopsy to determine cause of death.
Wilson Terrace and Ryan Road are connected, and the 507 address is on the corner where Wilson Terrace becomes Ryan Road.
“Our hearts go out to this family as their loss is excruciating. Detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragedy as we offer the family our services during this difficult time,” said Sheriff Susan Benton.
No further details are available at this time and the case remains under investigation.
