SEBRING - New ownership has taken over a former resort in Sebring and is transforming the property into new homes for potential residents.
The Silver Sands Apartments, 3012 State Road 17 N, has been getting a facelift over the past two months and is shaping up to be a brand new place.
New property manager, Dianne Brewington, assumed that role in late June and has been busy ever since signing on to the huge project.
"The new owner lives down in Miami and he bought the place in early June. I got here on June 27," Brewington said.
Since her arrival, Brewington has left her four-bedroom home and moved onto the property to give the position her full attention. Brewington and her family reside just steps away from the Silver Sands office, giving residents 24-hour access to management.
"There aren't many places where the manager lives on the property. That's something that a lot of apartment residents can't say, so I think it is a special part of living here," Brewington said.
The property has been cleaned and renovated over the past three months by Brewington's husband, Don, who works as the facility and maintenance manager.
The couple has done a major overhaul at the former resort that has created a relaxed, quaint atmosphere at the apartment complex.
"We have upgraded apartments - cleaned, painted, and got rid of old carpets. We have cleaned up around the property and cleared the lake for swimming. We are going to be adding umbrella tables, more palm trees. We're adding new fence around the property and planting hedges in the front along the road," Brewington said.
The property sits on Dinner Lake, which is another unique addition to residents looking to have a nice scenery to look at every day. The Brewingtons feel that all the new renovations to the property make it a perfect spot for tenants, no matter their age.
"It's a safe, quiet place with a vacation-like atmosphere, and where else can you see a great sunset and sunrise overlooking the lake every night and morning," Dianne said.
The Silver Sands Apartments currently have 15 tenants but the property has nearly 45 units. The property has five units currently ready to move into and continually work to re-vamp other units for potential residents.
Brewington's goal for the up and coming property is a simple one; to be successful.
"I want to rent all 43 apartments and I want to keep the northerners coming back year after year. I enjoy working with people and living here is great, my kids love the beach. I am here for my family and for a career that I enjoy," Brewington said.
Silver Sands Apartments is now leasing and available to residents of all ages. For applications or appointments Brewington can be reached at 991-4347.
