SEBRING - Burger lovers, get ready to wait in anticipation. There's a new burger joint opening its doors in Highlands County. Details from the corporate office in Virginia Wednesday afternoon confirm the many rumors of a Five Guys Burgers and Fries coming to Sebring.

The popular chain is known for its mouth-watering burgers and unique atmosphere. Opened in 1986 in Arlington, Va., Five Guys has become a national favorite with customers all over the United States.

Chains have opened up by the hundreds over the past few years. Currently there are more than 1,000 locations in 47 states with 1,500 currently in development.

The future Sebring Five Guys Burgers and Fries will be at 307 U.S. 27 North, in the Fountain Plaza.

A corporate Five Guys representative spoke to the News-Sun Wednesday about the plans for the Sebring location.

"The Sebring location is in the works. They do not have a definite opening day as of now, but the projected opening date is early 2013. We will have more information about the date in the next few weeks," the representative said.

Five Guys still follows its roots, serving only hand-formed, fresh-ground beef in its burgers.

According to the company's website, there are no freezers in any of the locations (only coolers), allowing for the absolute freshest products.

Currently, the closest Five Guys location to Highlands County is the Okeechobee and Winter Haven stores, both about 40 miles from Sebring.

Five Guys offers hand-crafted burgers with a long list of toppings; everything from jalapenos to mushrooms can be squeezed between a Five Guys bun. The establishment also offers other options such as kosher hot dogs, vegetarian sandwiches and, of course, hand cut french fries.

Great Food & Service  (by: Cathy  -   2/10/2013)

My family is a lover of 5 Guys and been to Bradenton and Okeechobe locations several times. I am so glad they opened in Sebring. Five of us went there on Friday night. We were so impressed by the food and service even though they were very busy. Love it!

just what we needed!  (by: heart to heart  -   1/21/2013)

This comes as no suprise, another artery-clogging, fat drenched burger joint. That way we can now get a bag of fries instead of just "way to many"! And their burgers are good but people will opt to upsize...wake up people!

That's great news for Sebring. The burgers and dogs are the best and the fries are made from scratch and you get enough for three people with one regular size fry. Glad to hear that Highlands is moving up in the world. Where will the location be ?
