SEBRING -- Pre-trial conferences for the defendants in the Aaron Doty murder case took place Tuesday and Wednesday at the Highlands County Courthouse.

The investigation began in June when Doty's body was found after he was reportedly beaten into unconsciousness at a party, then taken into the woods and set on fire. Jonathan Rodriguez and Kenneth Felipe were arrested and have been charged with first-degree murder in the caase.

A lengthy docket set a long wait in motion Tuesday as Adriana Rodriguez, Travis Makris and Nicole Hebert, each charged with being an accessory after the fact to Doty's murder, appeared for their pre-trial conferences.

Felipe also faced pre-trial conference with Judge Angela Cowden Tuesday.

Felipe, Rodriguez and Hebert each were given a continuation during Tuesday's conference. The three defendants are scheduled to appear again before a judge on January, 23, 2013.

Makris' conference also resulted in a continuation. Makris' next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 20.

Jonathan Rodriguez had a pre-trial conference on Wednesday that was not complete at press time.

Doty  (by: B.Jean  -   11/24/2012)

Praying for the Doty family. Can't imagine how horrible this is for you. I would go absolutely out of my mind if something happened to one of my sons and knowing that no one came to his aide. Maybe some time in prison will give them time to think about their actions. Although nothing can bring your son back to you, I pray that you find a way to deal with all of this.

Just wondering what Jack would think about what happened in the development he created.

And So It Begins  (by: Spectre  -   11/23/2012)

And so the time consumming, long drawn out wheels of justice begin to turn. I know that according to our judicial system all defendants are entitled to a fair trial and, that they will get. However, this is going to be a gut-wrenching experience and process for the community. Case in point.....the Jeff Carlson ordeal that is still being dragged through the courts over 2 years later.
