ROGER MILLER

Roger Ellis Miller, 92, of Sebring, Fla. died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012. He was born Sept. 2, 1920 in McAlpin, Fla., son of the late Roscoe Nigel and Lillian Jane Miller. The Millers moved to Sebring in 1921 and later to LaBelle, Fla. Roger graduated from LaBelle High School (1938) and University of Florida (1946) and was a true Gator fan. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy, leaving the service as Lt. CEC USNR. He enjoyed his many years as a civil engineer and surveyor. He developed Lake Sebring Ridge, partnered in the development of Sylvan Shores, Lake Placid, constructed Fairmount Utilities and Sebring Ridge Utilities.

Roger is a Life Member of V.F.W. Post 25, Lake Placid and a past president of Rotary Club of Sebring, Paul Harris Fellow and a faithful member and Deacon of First Baptist Church, Sebring.

He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Frances and survived by his devoted wife, Peggy; his loving children, Roger Miller Jr., Valerie (Dean) Johnson M.D., Christopher (Pat) Miller, and Karen (Joseph) Berry; brother, Nigel (Joan) Miller; step-children, Karen (David) Curfman and Julia Modisett; grandchildren, Miller Johnson, Bryan Johnson, Marianne Johnson, Christopher Miller Jr., Joshua Miller, Summer Miller, Mark Purvis, Zachary Berry, and Samantha Berry; and step-grandchildren, Christine Curfman, David Curfman Jr., Carrie Curfman, Jackie Monisett and Taylor Monisett.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Morris Funeral Chapel with services at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Sebring. Burial at Pinecrest Cemetery with Military Honors.
