Delivery driver charged with filing false report

Special to the News-Sun

LAKE PLACID - A Pepsi delivery driver was arrested Saturday and charged with a misdemeanor charge of falsely reporting a crime after town police were called to investigate a reported armed robbery.

At 8 a.m. Saturday, Lake Placid Police Corporal Eddie San Miguel responded to a report of an armed robbery of a Pepsi truck driver at the Lake Placid Dollar General Store on U.S. 27. Dominic Antwan Parker, a Pepsi delivery driver who was in a Pepsi uniform and driving a Pepsi truck, reported to Highlands 911 and to Corporal San Miguel, that he had been robbed at gun point by two unknown Hispanic males in a light blue Scion two-door car.

According to LPPD reports, Parker said he was preparing to exit his work vehicle when the two robbers pulled up beside him and brandished a "Glock-type gun" out the passenger window and demanded cash and his driver license. Parker, 33, of Winter Haven, reported that he had given the robbers cash and his cell phone.

Officers noticed oddities in Parker's demeanor. San Miguel also noticed changes in Parker's description of events.

According to reports, Parker told San Miguel that this was the second time he had been robbed.

Noticing oddities in Parker's story and a bulge in Parker's pocket that appeared to be folded bills, San Miguel continued to question Parker about the bulge in his pocket and the robbery until Parker admitted he had falsely reported the robbery, reports said.

Parker was reported to have $746 cash in his pocket.

Parker's Pepsi truck was turned over to Pepsi Management, and Parker was charged with a misdemeanor charge of falsely reporting a crime.

Poor guy  (by: Blindman  -   12/27/2012)

This poor guy was only trying to steal from his own employer so he could provide gifts for his family on Christmas. So much for equal opportunity.
