Mabel Irene Brock Randall, 92, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Hoag Hospital with her daughter, Donna, and son-in-law, Fred, at her side, in Newport Beach, Calif. Irene was born in Corbin, Ky. on Sept. 28, 1920, to Oscar Joseph Brock and Maude Jones Brock. She graduated from Lilly High School where she excelled in mathematics. After graduation she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. She was hired by Wrights during World War II to manufacture precision parts for aircraft engines. There she was trained by her future husband, James Randall. After the war, Jim joined General Electric Jet Engine department to retire as quality control engineer, and Irene quit work to make a home for themselves and their two children. They were happily married for almost 63 years.
Irene loved bridge, golf and cooking. She was a member of United Methodist Church. She lived more than 40 years in Newton, Ohio, retired to Sebring, Fla. and spent the last six years of her life with Donna in California.
Irene will now join her husband, James, who died while they were with Ron in Texas. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Cahall, and her brother, Stenton. She is survived by daughter, Donna (Fred) Barkehanai; son, Ron (Penny) Randall; grandchildren, Jeff, Kevin, Christina, Erin and Keith; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 at Greenwood Funeral Home Garden Chapel, with interment at Greenwood Memorial Park.
