LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid Art League would like to give a big thank you to our sponsors for their generous support for our 26th Annual Art and Fine Craft Show. The show was held on Jan. 26 at the Bert J. Harris Jr. Agricultural Center.
All the artists in this year's exhibit deserve recognition for the freshness of approach and experimentation with materials and process in their creative work. The main purpose of this event is to showcase fine art on the community level. This year there was a wide variety of media represented.
More than 50 artists, most of them from Highlands County and Central Florida, exhibited and sold works that included watercolor and oil paintings, photography, pencil art, and painting with coffee. Artisans in parchment, basketry, wood turning, jewelry design and mixed media arts were well represented.
Entrants were also vying for a share of $2,600 in cash awards provided by sponsors.
Nancy Flora Adams won Best of Show, and Elzbieta Weron won the Parrish Award for Environmental Art.
