Alec Edward Golden, 66, passed away Feb. 3, 2013 in Sebring, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Stephens Golden; a sister, Cora Sue Golden, MD (retired); step-son, Bill Cromartie Jr. and wife, Cathy Carter Cromartie; grandchildren, Taylor Ann Cromartie and Chase DeWitt Cromartie; brother-in-law, Dr. Norman Stephens, and his wife, Laurie; a sister-in-law, Carol Stephens; and many nieces and nephews.

Alec was born in Ohio, lived in Louisville, and settled in Fort Lauderdale where he graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School, class of 1964. He attended J.C.B.C. and graduated from Mortuary School in Louisville in 1970. He did a tour of duty with the U.S. Army, First Infantry division in Viet Nam.

Alec and wife, Peggy settled in Sebring in 2006. He was glad to get out of the rush of South Florida and quickly fell in love with the people of Sebring who are so friendly. He came to the races every year since high school. He also drove in three, one-lap Americas races.

In lieu of flowers, make a donation to the South Florida State College Foundation, Inc., 13 E. Main St., Avon Park, FL 33825. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, 6-8 pm at their residence, 2918 Meadowood Lane, Sebring. www.morrisfuneralchapel.com
