LAKE PLACID - More visitors than ever before saw the Lake Placid Country Fair exhibits at the Lake Placid Elementary School last weekend and became judges. They had the privilege of voting for the exhibit of their choice in each of the 10 adult amateur divisions to determine the winners.
Sometimes the voters agreed with the judges and other times they selected their own favorite.
Last Sunday, winners in each division received an orange and white rosette ribbon and a $25 cash prize presented at the gazebo in DeVane Park by Helen Obenchain, Exhibits chair, and assisted by Suellen Robinson, Adult Exhibits chair, Miss Lake Placid and Miss Junior Lake Placid. .
Winners were:
Division I - Arts - Joan Swanson, Path in the Scrub;
Division II - Photography - Joel Glover, Bear Backstroke;
Division III - Porcelain - Gert Wagner, Rose Dresser Set;
Division IV - Woodcrafts - Marlene Cupstid, "Swamp Dreams" Intarsia;
Division V - Craft - Linda Moeller, Flamingos on Beach Paper Tole;
Division VI - Needlecrafts - Grace Becker, Autumn Grist Mill;
Division VII - Stitchery & Fabric Crafts - Cecilia Sorenson, Cathedral Quilt;
Division VIII - Yarn & Cord Crafts - Madeline Levesque for Crocheted Ecru Doily;
Division IX - Foods - Louisa Hyman for Wedding Cupcake Cake;
Division X - Poetry - Sandy Kessler, "New Year's Eve".
