SEBRING -- Missy Albritton's concern for homeless children grew over the years. When she discovered recently that 100 quality foster homes were needed in Highlands County and that 30 children are in state care, Albritton decided something had to be done.
She did research.
"There are about 700 churches in the county," she said, adding that she asked herself, "What if one family in each congregation took in a foster child or siblings, the rest of the congregation could help with financial and moral support."
She calls her program 1-1-1, one family, one child, one church. "As Christians," Albritton said, "we need to be very involved. We need to step up and do the right thing. I hope to have 130 homes by the end of the summer."
Churches interested in the program may contact Albritton at 781-0306.
