SEBRING - This season's Heartland Idol Adult division kicked off last Thursday with a handful of talent, but it's not too late for eligible singers and performers to get in on the action.

After the first qualifying round, five adult singers were given the go-ahead in the competition. This week's March 7 show brings the second round of adult qualifications to the loyal Idol fans (along with the finale of the Teen Idol competition).

The adult division is packed with talented singers Adam Meredith, Ashley Elder, Mary Hazel Teape, Lindsey Sears and Michelle Macbeth, but there is certainly room for more.

Idol founder Diana Walker hopes to bring in more singers for the adult's division to bring a full roster of talented individuals to the stage at the Highlands County YMCA.

The qualifying round gives singers 90 seconds to showcase their vocal talent through an acapella version of their hand-picked song. Once the qualifying rounds are complete, the singers chosen will advance to the adult semi-finals where they will continue to compete for a grand prize of $2,000.

Any interested singers may download the application from the Heartland Idol Facebook group (just type in Heartland Idol in the search box) and return the application and the small entry fee to the Keiber Law Office 129 S. Commerce Ave. in downtown Sebring. Any businesses or organizations interested in sponsoring Heartland Idol may contact Walker via the Heartland Idol Facebook page.

For more information contact Walker via Heartland Idol Facebook or call 381-2343.
