'Aaron Doty Law' petition sign up still active

SEBRING - A total of 5,093 supporters have signed a petition on change.org/ to show support for the creation of the 'Aaron Doty Law'. The law, if created, would work to help hold witnesses to a felony accountable for not reporting such crimes.
The petition was created by Lake Placid resident Jackie Meabe last year following Doty's June 2012 murder. Over the few months, Meabe has been contacted by a local criminal justice student and Avon Park resident Roxanne Judd, who has began pushing forward once again with the proposed law.
Judd's petition website can be found by visiting signon.org/. The petition has gained hundreds of signatures in just a matter of days rising from 178 to nearly 800 this week. Judd's petition needs 1,000 signatures, according to the web page. To sign the petition visit signon.org/sign/aaron-doty-a-senseless/ (or log on to signon.org and scroll down to the search bar on the left and type in Aaron Doty).
Judd will present the petition to lawmakers in Tallahassee on Oct. 1 and hopes to have as many signatures as possible to push the legislators to creating the law in Doty's honor.
