AVON PARK - South Florida Community College's Corporate and Community Education Department is offering a variety of workshops and classes to help improve workplace skills and productivity this summer at the SFCC Highlands Campus, Avon Park.
Learn the basics of Photoshop to correct, enhance, crop, resize images, merge images together, create artistic backgrounds for PowerPoint presentations, and more. This Photoshop workshop will be offered from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 15. The course number (CRN) is 30761 and costs $30.
Get organized with the Introduction to Evernote workshop, the most popular production app available today. Install Evernote on your computer, smartphone, or tablet for free. Did you know you can create your own website quickly using Google Sites? Learn how to at the Web Design Using Google Sites workshops. Google will host the site free; no knowledge of HTML is required. In just 12 weeks, learn key Spanish terms and expressions that are important for communicating in a working environment in the Workplace Spanish Class. The CPR Instructor Training program is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of teaching Basic Life Support. Regardless of your current level of expertise, our comprehensive Instructor training class will help to make you a knowledgeable and competent Instructor. Upon successful completion of the course and succeeding student teaching requirements the Instructor candidate will be issued an American Heart Association instructor card that will allow them to teach CPR and offer AHA course completion cards. It will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19 at the SFCC Highlands Campus. The course number (CRN) is 30737 and costs $135 and includes a course book. First Aid Training classes provide employee training for designated first responders, or individuals needing credentialed training for job or regulatory requirements. This course covers first aid basics, medical, injury and environmental emergencies and AED use. Students will also complete a written exam. The CPR Training classes with Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association is being offered for students who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. Students will participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations, work with an American Heart Association Certified BLS instructor to complete Basic Life Support (BLS) skills practice and skills testing and complete a written exam. The New Miner Training Course develops and instills in new miners an attitude of safety, trains miners to do each task safely and correctly and how to identify hazards and prevent accidents. The Miner Refresher Training Course reaffirms and reinforces a miner's safety attitude formed during New Miner Training. It provides the most current information available on various topics, and recognizes and rewards miners for their safe work attitude. This is a one-day class offered on the SFCC Hardee Campus. CDL Refresher Courses are available by appointment only. The class "A" and "B" refresher course is offered to experienced drivers who have allowed their CDL to lapse, or for some reason have let their CDL revert back to a regular class "E" license. The course is offered in either eight-hour or 72-hour increments. This course offers one-on-one training that is needed to pass the CDL skills test, providing the applicant is already competent in driving a commercial vehicle, either class "A" or "B." CDL Exams are available by appointment only. The State of Florida CDL exam consists of three parts: pre-trip inspection, basic controls skills test and driving skills test. The CDL Exam lasts 30-45 minutes and is mandated by the state of Florida. Contact Lorrie Key at 784-7033 for more information.
