Special to the News-Sun

SEBRING - County Commissioner Don Elwell will be marking the mid-way point in his four-year term as Highlands County commissioner by hosting his fourth town-hall style meeting on Tuesday to discuss critical county issues and receive suggestions from his constituents. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. at Homer's Restaurant.

Elwell said, "The meeting is normally a Highlands Tea Party meeting, and I hope to get a great turnout from those folks. However, I also encourage residents of every political affiliation and philosophy to attend and participate - our county has many challenges before it, and I've never believed that partisanship has any effective place in politics, especially on a local level."

Elwell continued, "I really hope to get feedback from everyone, as that's the best way I'm aware of to gain a fuller understanding of the issues that are most important to all of our residents. No question is off limits during these events, and I usually learn as much as those in attendance do".

The two-hour event will include some initial comments/general discussion from Elwell on a few current and upcoming topics of interest, but will concentrate heavily on questions and concerns from those in the audience. Elwell said, "I certainly appreciate any citizen that takes the time out of their busy holiday schedule to speak with me and the others in attendance, and I think I can best respect their time by listening and learning a bit more than just talking".

Admission to the event is free, but attendees are encouraged to arrive early and purchase dinner prior to the meeting.
