WILLIAM ROCHE
WILLIAM ROCHE
William James Roche 6/10/36 - 12/6/12
Bill, along with his late wife, Lyn, were instrumental in helping and encouraging caregivers in the Sebring, Fla. area and throughout the world. Through their writings and their many informative, fun, and interactive workshops and seminars it's obvious that Bill and Lyn loved life and they loved people. One of their main objectives was to uplift others. They never failed to refresh caregivers, give them hope, and inspire them to take good care of themselves.
Some of Bill and Lyn's precious accomplishments include: authoring several support books such as "Coping With Caring: Daily Reflections for Alzheimer's Caregivers" (1996) and "Sharing The Care: When Someone You Love Resides in an Adult Care Facility" (2004), they started a caregiver support group for family caregivers dealing with alzheimer's and related dementias that is now being carried on by Change Of Pace Center, and finally, they also wrote a weekly column called Boomers and Beyond for Highlands Today in Sebring. Their many activities included leading life groups and marriage enrichment groups at their local church.
Bill passed last Thursday after battling dementia for the past few years. He is truly at peace and with his precious bride Lyn.
Bill is survived by his sister, Cheryl Gravell; his son, Wil Roche; his daughter, Melissa Schachtschneider; his four step-sons, Terry Renshaw, John Nocholson, Jason Nicholson, and Joe Nicholson; and his step-daughter, Tiffany Anderson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held this Saturday, Dec. 15 2012 at Sebring Christian Church, 4514 Hammock Road, Sebring Fla., 11 a.m.; 382-6676. Fellowship time with family and friends, then lunch provided by Change of Pace/Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group immediately after service.
In lieu of flowers, Bill Roche and his loving wife, Lyn, would ask for donations to be made to Change of Pace Adult Day Center, 4514 Hammock Road, Sebring, FL 33872; 382-1188. This is a wonderful organization that provides care, activities and comfort for people and their families who are struggling with dementia. This was a vision and dream of Bill and Lyn's, which is being run by some of the most amazing people in the world.
Bill, Billy, Dad, friend, you are loved by many and will be greatly missed.
