Search warrant results in arrest

LAKE PLACID - On Dec. 19 at approximately 6:30 p.m., following a lengthy investigation, members of the Highlands County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit served a search warrant at 101 McGahee Ave. Apt. 105. During the search of the apartment a significant amount of cocaine, commonly packaged for sale, was recovered. Additionally, a smaller amount of prescription drugs, drug paraphernalia and more than $10,000 in cash was seized.

A short time after entry was made into the apartment, the resident, Terrence Sholtz, arrived at the scene and was taken into custody. Sholtz, 34, was charged with Possession of Harmful New Legend Drug Without a Prescription, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine With Intent to Sell within 1,000 feet of a Church and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Sholtz bonded out of jail in less than 24 hours with a bond of $17,000.
