THEODORE BJORK
Theodore "Ted" Bjork, age 89, of Etowah, Tenn. and formerly of Erie, Pa. and Sebring, Fla., went to be with the Lord on Dec. 22, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois Hahn Bjork. Ted was born in McKeesport, Pa. on Dec. 4, 1923, the son of the late George J. and Hilda Lindberg Bjork. When in Erie he had been a member of Grace Baptist Church; in Sebring, Fla., he attended Maranatha Baptist Church where he sang in the choir; and in Etowah, Tenn., he was a member of North Etowah Baptist Church. Ted had served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, 30th Bomb Squadron as a crew chief and mechanic on B29 bombers achieving the rank of sergeant. He moved to Edinboro, Pa. in 1946 where he met and married his wife. They moved to Millcreek Township in 1955. He was employed at Lord Corporation in the rubber department for 35 years, first as a press operator and then as a shift supervisor. Upon retirement he and his wife moved to Whisper Lake Mobile Home Park in Sebring, Fla. where he served as park resident manager for 10 years and then worked part time at Pinch-A-Penny Pool Supply. In 2005, he and his wife moved to Etowah to be near their son.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, George J. Bjork Jr., and his sister, Violet Bouldin. In addition to his wife, Ted is survived by a son and daughter in-law, David L. and Joyce Bjork of Etowah, Tenn., and a daughter, Wendy S. Havern of Girard, Pa., three step-grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home. The pastor, Mark Wade, will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
Family and friends will assemble at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27 at the funeral home and proceed to McMinn Memory Gardens for the 11 a.m. committal service.
