REV. EDWARD WILSON

Rev. Edward William Wilson, born in St. Johns, Mich. on July 2, 1938, passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012 in Sebring, Fla. Preceded by his parents, Mary Alice Wilson and Ralph Wilson, and stepmother, Esther Wilson.

He leaves his wife of 53 years, Karen; and his children, Amy Parkinson (Kenneth) of Jerome, Mich., Clark Wilson (Elizabeth) of Owosso, Mich., and Margaret Shipman of Sebring, Fla.; grandchildren, Lisa, Nicole and Andrew Parkinson, Zane and Ethan Wilson and Amy Cox (Charlie); three sisters, Norma George, Kay Stillwell (Dave) of Ovid, Mich., and Patricia Seidel (Carl) of Ovid, Mich.

A graduate of Ovid High School in Ovid, Mich., he entered Albion College where he received a degree in Biology and Education. While teaching at Mona Shores High School, near Muskegon, Mich., he spent summers studying for his master's degree in Micro-Biology at the University of Oklahoma.

In 1972, the family relocated to St. Paul, Minn., where he attended Northwestern Theological Seminary earning his master's of Divinity. He was ordained in 1976 at Samuel Lutheran Church in Muskegon, Mich. He served churches in Minnesota and Michigan until moving to Sebring, Fla. in 1983 where he taught special education at Sebring High School. Upon retirement, he became the Minister of Visitation at the First United Methodist Church in Avon Park, Fla.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park, Fla. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Avon Park with Rev. Gary Pendrak, Robert Clogston and Devon Jarrett officiating. An additional funeral service will be held in Ovid, Mich. through Osgood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ovid, Mich. Memorial contributions may be made to Albion College, First United Methodist Church in Avon Park, The United Church in Ovid, Michigan or the Gideon's.
