SEBRING - Tuesday night's loss against Kathleen left the Lady Blue Streak basketball players a little down.
With a final score of 58-44 in Kathleen's favor, the well fought game had come to an end and the Lady Devils had exacted a bit of revenge.
Sporting an 11-4 overall record coming in, one of those losses was a 55-49 Sebring win on Tuesday, Dec. 11, on Kathleen's home court.
And so the visiting Devils had a bit of atonement on their minds.
Kathleen showed their skills in the first quarter with a total of 13 points, most as part of an early scoring run, but Sebring didn't let them get that far ahead with Alexxis Harris and Rondaja Williams putting points on the board with a couple of layups.
Christacia Dawkins kicked it into gear in the last seconds of the first with a three pointer, catching the game back up to a score of 13-8 at the end of the quarter.
In the second quarter, the Streaks kept up the intensity, and made it a three-point game with the opening score of those eight minutes.
But Kathleen gave it right back to Sebring with a seven-point run to open it up to 10.
Sebring's Shalontay Rose stole the ball and ran it down the court and finished with a layup, followed by a Jazmin House layup at the end of the first half, keeping them in the game.
The third quarter was filled with excitement as both teams kept a constant back and forth.
With Kathleen getting the first two points of the quarter, Sebring replied with a three pointer by Williams.
Kathleen scored another two points and Williams responded again with another trey, making the home fans quite cheery.
House quickly followed her teammate with two jumpers adding four points to the board.
And Allie Mann finished it up with a 15-foot jump shot, but the Devils were doing some scoring of their own and were able to add to the lead, leaving the third with a 43-30 lead.
To finish up the game, Rose, Jasmiese Wiley and Williams each added to the point total in the fourth quarter, and Dawkins had yet another three pointer to virtually match the Devils for the period.
But they would get no closer and when the final buzzer sounded, Kathleen had gotten its' payback.
The leading scorers of the game for Sebring were Williams with 10 points, Dawkins with eight, along with Rose and Mann, both totaling seven points.
"We turned the ball over a little too much, and I think that that's what was key to our loss tonight," said Sebring coach Mike Lee. "We played good and really hard tonight though."
The Lady Streaks were back at it Thursday with a road date at Lake Placid before getting back into the district schedule tonight at Lake Gibson.
