Road weary they may have been, with another hour-long trip in consecutive days after Monday's contest at Bradenton's Southeast.
But coming to play is just the way the Blue Streaks do things and that they did Tuesday in nearly pulling off a shocker at Winter Haven.
Undefeated in district play and having won two in a row coming in, the Blue Devils found themselves in a battle from the get-go.
Baskets were at a premium as both defenses locked down, and Sebring fought to a 12-12 tie after one period of play.
Winter Haven was able to squeak out to a one-point advantage at the half, 26-25, but the Blue Streak defense really dug in deep in the third, holding the Devils to just eight points.
Their 11 points in the period turned the tables and saw the Streaks head into the final eight minutes with a 36-34 edge.
But 6-3 sophomore Chance McSpadden awoke in the fourth, drilling two three pointers and going three-of-four from the free-throw line down the stretch to give Winter Haven the 48-46 win.
The road warriors continue their trek with a district match-up at Lake Gibson Friday and a non-district affair Monday at DeSoto.
