SEBRING - This past week the Highlands County Sports Complex saw some great hitting in the 50's division of Sebring Senior Softball.
In the first game of Thursday's doubleheader, Fairmount Services mowed over Reflections by the score of 15-8.
Legendary Canadian outdoor guide Bob "Swamp" Poulan pitched an outstanding game for the winners while going 3-for-3 with a double and an inside-the-park home run.
Sweet swinging Tom McNally also went 3-for-3 with a triple, while Orlando Hernandez was 3-for-4 with a double.
Outstanding defense was played by shortstop Greg Ramos, and rover Dick "Scooter" Cook.
For Reflections, Don Dobbert continued his hot streak with 4-for-4.
Shortstop John Smutnick, back from the DL, drilled two hits, as did rookie Tom Trapman.
In the second game, a close contest was broken open in the last inning as Bill Jarrett Ford beat Fairmount Services 29-12.
In the first inning, Jarrett sluggers Dave Reed and Jim Kahn hit back-to-back home runs.
Not to be outdone, Fairmount manager Brad Caid and pitcher Swamp Poulan returned the favor with back-to-backs of their own.
Also having big days with 4-for-4s were Tom McNally and Boom Boom Buja.
Speedy shortstop Greg Ramos was 3-for-4 with a double and triple.
Going into the top of the last inning, leading 12-8, Jarrett's first 17 batters all scored.
In a balanced attack for Jarrett, defensive wizard Les Osbeck led the way with a 6-for-6 day, including three runs scored, three RBI, and a double.
Hall of Famer Dave Reed had two out-of-the-park blasts to go along with his four hits.
Shortstop Jim Kahn also homered in his 4-for-4 day.
Larry Kelly smacked five singles, while Wisconsin boys Jim Holmes and Dick Schultz had four hits and two doubles.
On Tuesday, Bill Jarrett Ford held off a last inning rally by Reflections, to win 14-13.
Reflections stranded the tying run at first base in the bottom of the seventh.
For Jarrett, 2-3-4 hitters Les Osbeck, Dave Reed and Jim Kahn all had three hits.
Reed continued his season long home run barrage with another monster over the right field fence.
Reflections played without their outstanding long ball hitting shortstop John Smutnick, out with a hamstring pull.
Pacing Reflections was Indiana Legend Phil Grimke, Jess Hathaway and Ron Rieches, who is hitting .800 in his last four games.
