SEBRING - The stormy weather was not enough to damper the spirits of the Avon Park and Sebring boys weightlifting teams as they battled with visiting Hardee and LaBelle on Friday.
Some transportation complications had forced the meet back from its originally scheduled time on Thursday, but this would not change the level of intensity.
Perhaps knowing that this was the last day of school before spring break brought up the adrenaline of the power lifters, and adding in the factor of rigorous preparation they were certainly a force to be reckoned with.
It would be LaBelle, however, who came out on top by a factor of two points over Sebring, with 52 and 50 points, respectfully.
Hardee came in third with 38 points while Avon Park's class winners brought in a total of 31 points.
Leading the way for the Red Devils was Dylan Brown, who powered a 620 total, between the bench press and clean and jerk, to win the 238-pound weight class.
Estevinson Louis brought home the win in the 219-pound class with his lift of 600 while Jeff Satine took first place in the 129's with a 425 total.
Helping to earn Sebring the second place finish included Anthony Powell, whose lifts of 525 topped the 154-pound weight class with Ty Johnson earning the blue in the 169's with a lift total of 485.
Other first-place finishes for the Streaks included Jeremiah Acosta's 475 total at 183 and Markanthony Miranda drive of 525 at 199.
Both teams will be in action at the Tuesday, March 20, County Meet hosted in the Sebring Fieldhouse.
