SEBRING - After a victory-laden weekend, the Sebring girls tennis team added another win to their regular season record Monday, topping visiting Winter Haven 6-1.

The only loss of the day came in an intense, nail-biting match at No. 2 Singles, with Joy Donglasan and Lady Blue Devil Ali Mann battling.

Mann won the first set, taking a 7-3 tie-breaker to win 7-6, before Donglasan bounced back with a 6-3 win in the second set.

But then, in a marathon of a finish, Mann outlasted the Sebring senior by a 10-8 count for the win.

Nisha Patel and Morgan Heston were also tested a bit, at No. 1 and 4 Singles, respectively, but both came away with 6-3, 6-4 wins over Baylee Lockwood and Katie Widner.

At Nos 3 and 5 Singles, though, Kelly Broen and Micaela DeVane only lost three games total in their straight-set wins.

Broen toped Payton Attoway 6-3, 6-0, while DeVane went 6-2, 6-1 over Bailey Morgan.

Donglasan then got a little payback as she teamed with Patel to take an 8-3 win over Lockwood and Mann at No. 1 Doubles.

And Broen and DeVane took care of business at No. 2 Doubles, cruising past Attoway and Widner by an 8-2 count.

Now at 8-1 on the season, and having won seven in a row since their loss at Lakeland in the second match of the season, the Streaks were at Frostproof Tuesday and head to George Jenkins Thursday.

And the win comes off a dominant weekend which saw a Lady Streak sweep of the Heartland Conference Tournament.

In the five-school field, each of the Sebring girls worked their way through Friday's docket and reached Saturday's finale.

Five Lady Green Dragons also made it to the championship matches and helped the team claim second place overall, just ahead of Hardee.

But it was the Streaks who came away victorious as Patel got it started when she topped Lake Placid's Hannah Waller in the No. 1 Singles final.

Donglasan won a hard-fought, No. 2 match over Lady Dragon Stephanie Rodriguez and Broen went 6-2, 6-0 over Hardee's Caroline Durrance at No. 3.

Heston and DeVane then made it a singles sweep with wins at Nos 4 and 5 over Lady Wildcat Madison Burnett and Lake Placid's Rachel Shattler, respectively.

Patel and Donglasan then bested Hardee's Ashley Baker and Durrance in No. 1 Doubles and Broen and Heston finished it off with a win over Lady Dragons Claire LeBlanc and Jenna Blount at No. 2.

"It was a great tournament for the girls," Sebring head coach Jane Hollinger said. "The set-up and atmosphere really helps the girls get ready for Districts."

Those aren't until the first week of April, but the way the Streaks are going now, Districts can't get here fast enough.
