Truth is powerful

Editor:

This letter may hit some people's nerves like the dentist's drill. Nevertheless, I'm writing what I believe to be the truth and the tree must lay where it falls.

How could this senseless murder rampage have taken place in Newtown, Conn., Friday, Dec. 14?

All the other mass killings in the past? Each time our officials and citizens cry out, "This is enough! We can stand no more!" After a few days, the loss of life becomes a thing of the past. No changes made. We are a corrupt country. Our government is not a government of the people. The lobbyists runs this United States of America. Our well-intended laws have been twisted, bent to serve the need of lawlessness created by our leaders, who sought to cover up their crimes.

We recall the years 2000 through 2008. We can go back much farther than 2000. Watergate, when President Ford pardoned President Nixon, a common criminal who gave the order to break into Watergate. His henchman served time to pacify the outcry of Nixon being forgiven. President Ford was honored as having "healed the nation." He healed nothing. It made a clear statement.

"Those in high places are above the law." Let's not forget President Reagan who was responsible for guns being stolen and sold to the Contras.

Lieutenant North became the fall guy for Reagan. Pres. Reagan confessed to the American people and was forgiven as far as I know.

Then came George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. The lobbyists paying for their campaigns as they have for other Presidents.

Herein lies the mystery of the most lawless and evil administration of the history of our country to this time - 2012.

Based on lies and dishonesty, they conned the Americans into believing Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and was about to use them. After thousands and thousands of sleeping men, women and children were needlessly slaughtered by our military, we learned it was all a hoax. There was no reason for our men and women to invade Iraq killing all those innocent Iraqis as well 3 to 4,000 of our soldiers and wounding more than 32,000 of our young men and women. These were war crimes and no one was punished; however, Colin Powell lied for Bush in an attempt to show America and the world a diagram and a tiny bottle of white powder claimed to be anthrax, a deadly chemical, as reason to invade Iraq. All of this were lies to deceive American people and those of the world who were naive enough to buy into it.

When President Obama was elected President, our people had come to understand they had been hoodwinked. Now they were angry and crying for "change." That was a perfect time in history to give the American people the change that would have set the stage for a change in the direction our country would take.

A hefty fine from the guilty of war crimes could have been useful in paying toward the deficit, a prison sentence, a reminder of what may happen when our employees get out of line.

Today there are no consequences for the wealthy or those in leadership in our government.

The gun lobby and all the other lobbies, big businesses hold Congress and the House in the death grip of blackmail.

It is vast amounts of money that compels Washington to vote according to the dictates of those who pay them, lobbyists.

I believe this is exactly what President Obama meant when he said the only way Washington would be cleaned up is from the outside in, though people scoffed at his statement.

That cleansing will happen only when Jesus Christ, our Savior appears to put an end to the wickedness.

The guns will continue on sale at the shows that are held all over this country and the guns will continue to be shipped to Mexico. There will always be plenty in the states for those who entertain fantasies to kill, getting their names in the news.

I recall several years ago when state hospitals were over-crowded with mentally ill patients.

Massachusetts was one of those states who discharged many of their patients onto the streets to fend for themselves. There were many incidents of patients not taking their medications because of forgetfulness or they used up all that medicines and didn't apply for refills. Unfortunately our law makers over look or are not concerned with the outcome of their decisions.

It appears the lust for money and power has led to the demise of the laws of this land and our lawmakers have sold the American people out to the gun lobbyists and others.

Finally: I do not mean to imply President Obama relied on lobbyists in his campaign. He did not.
