Usually when you join a church you join a congregation of believers. When I joined a church I joined a family of believers. That is what I consider all those that go to First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, my family.
My family there is one that accepts me and my boys with all our faults and loves us anyway as God does. We all grieve together when we lose a "family" member. We are there for each other through joys and troubles. I even have family there that I consider angels, for they seem to get the word from God what my unspoken needs are.
What a wonderful feeling it is to get up on Sunday morning knowing you will be seeing family and hearing the word of God from our pastor, our brother in Christ, Pastor Ron Norton.
Thursday nights is youth group and full of fun for parents and children alike because our pastor is a big kid himself. Although I love the choir and the hymns they sing for us I really enjoy hearing the different chime choirs.
So after searching for a church congregation that I felt my boys and I would fit into, I found a family instead. Hearing the word of God is always a good thing but joining together with family to hear it is even better.
