Fleck is not afraid to learn new ways

Editor:

For the past 21 years, my children and I have had the blessing of spending time with one of the strongest, hardest working women we know. From the first time we met Rebecca "Becky" Fleck (aka Grandma Becky), I knew she was a person we would cherish, learn from and grow to admire.

Throughout the years, we have celebrated birthday parties, family gatherings, and accomplishments large and small. Becky is an inspiration and an example of how to successfully manage a highly demanding job as well as a very busy family. Her door has been permanently open to her "adopted" family.

Always accommodating, always gracious, always willing to pull up an extra chair and pour another glass of sweet tea, Becky makes even the unexpected guest feel welcome, invited and at home. Her home reflects her beliefs: child centered, well organized, budget conscious, high tech, active, functional, productive, fun, flexible, learning environment.

Without doubt, these same qualities are reflected in her job performance and demonstrated in her leadership. How so? She is prepared for her presentations, innovative, quick on her feet, an outstanding speaker, well balanced, fore thinking, and secure in her knowledge base. She isn't afraid to learn something new or take on a challenge. Becky sets the bar high and refuses complacency.

I want to express my sincerest gratitude and my unabashed support for Rebecca "Becky" Leaphart Fleck for superintendent. On Nov. 6, get out and vote for a better school system, a higher level of expectation, and making our children the priority.
