Soldiers appreciate care packages

Editor:

Congratulations to Mayr Malod of Lake Placid who has been sending care packages to our military overseas for several years.

My grandson, SPC Kyle Hoskins, is in southeast Afghanistan. My daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Robert of Hollywood, and myself send Kyle packages each month. The post office gives us the box, which holds about 13 pounds and costs about $13 for postage. Kyle receives them in two or three weeks. He shares the contents with his comrades also.

We have sent bagel chips, shampoo, breakfast snacks, protein bars, Oreos, peanut butter, Craisins, tuna in foil, deodorant, "Pods" detergent, nuts, tobacco, bars of soap. We try to avoid cans of weight.

We know the soldiers appreciate anything people can send them.
