Reflections prepares for Craft Boutique

AVON PARK -- Reflections on Silver Lake is holding its annual Craft Boutique from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 1. If interested in becoming an exhibitor, call Bernice Huskey at 452-5215. The cost is $10 per exhibitor.

Commodities not distributed in December

SEBRING -- No commodities will be distributed during the month of December.

2013 Early Certification is from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Friday, Jan. 8-11 at The Salvation Army, 3135 Kenilworth Blvd. Next distribution will be from 9 am.. to noon Friday, Jan. 18 at The Salvation Army.

Clients in vehicles with new 2013 commodities cards may use drop off lane for their distribution pick-up. Clients without 2013 commodities card must come inside to certify for the new year and receive the new distribution on the same day.

Elvis will be in the building

SEBRING -- On Wednesday, Nov. 28, Todd Allen Herendeen will be performing at Tanglewood at 7 p.m. The Elvis portion of Todd's show is second to none. As well, Herendeen will highlight the works of Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly. In addition to great great rock and roll, Herendeen and his "Follow That Dream Band" perform gospel and have a hit with their patriotic chart topper, "My Name is America." All proceeds from this show, sponsored by NewsomEye, will go to the Tanglewood Residents' Cancer Benefit.

Tickets are $10 and will be on sale at the Tanglewood Clubhouse each Thursday from 3-4 p.m., as well as from 6-7 p.m. today. Tanglewood is a half a mile north of the Sebring Walmart across from Denny's.

Silver Eagle plays at Senior Center

SEBRING -- Live country music by the Silver Eagle Band will be played for listening and dancing pleasure from 1:30-4:30 p.m. today at the Senior Center, 3400 Sebring Parkway. Cost of admission is $5. Come and enjoy great music, see old friends and make new friends as well.

Open entertainment at Tanglewood

SEBRING -- Today starts the new season of entertainment at Tanglewood with two talented entertainers: The Donna and Dunning Show at 7 p.m. These two will keep guests entertained for the evening. Donna Moore, a veteran of the theatre, she performed her singing tributes of legends like Cher and Patsy Cline, which earned her rave reviews in Las Vegas and Atlantic City.

Plus welcome to the world of Dunning Shaw, simply put, one of the most versatile vocalists in the industry. In 1990, Dunning formed "Vocals Unlimited" performing 200-300 shows per year. This is a new twist to a stage show, which has earned him the name "The Man of a Thousand Voices."

Gate and snack bar open at 6:15 p.m., with show at 7 p.m. Cost is $10. Tanglewood is one-half mile north of Walmart on U.S. 27. For information, call 402-0763.

Sebring Masons serve barbecue lunch

SEBRING -- Sebring Lodge No. 249 will serve an all-you-can-eat barbecue chicken lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today for an $8 donation. The menu is chicken, coleslaw, baked beans, potato salad, dessert and beverage. The lodge is on the corner of Home Avenue and Sebring Parkway. The public is invited; take out orders are available.

Leisure Lakes Homeowners gather Monday

LAKE PLACID - The Leisure Lakes Homeowners Civic Association Inc. will hold their November meeting at Bishop Park in Lake Placid at 10 a.m. Monday. The meeting will feature Crime Watch issues and a representative from Highlands County Sheriff's Department will do a presentation on the recent burglaries in the Leisure Lakes area. The meeting will also cover all the upcoming activities for December and January.

All homeowners living in Leisure Lakes are invited to attend. New members are welcome.

Model Railroad Club meets Tuesday

SEBRING -- All Sebring Model Railroad Club meets most months at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ, 3800 Sebring Parkway. Members run model railroads on their "HO" Gauge modular layout.

NARFE meets Tuesday

SEBRING -- NARFE Chapter 288 of Highlands County will meet Tuesday at Homer's Smorgasbord in Sebring Square. Lunch is at 11 a.m., followed by a noon meeting and speaker. The guest speaker for November will be from Fairway Pines Assisted Living facility. An election of officers will also be held.

All current and retired federal employees and spouses are invited to attend.

CMA meets Tuesday

LAKE PLACID -- The local chapter of the Christian Motorcyclist Association meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Lake Placid Holiday Inn Express. Members attend local and southern Florida events and plan two rides a month.

This is a Christian-based association whose main purpose is to spread the Word of God to the motorcycling community; the motto is "changing the world one heart at a time."

Get tickets for Salvation Army's Thanksgiving dinner

SEBRING -- The Salvation Army Thanksgiving dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at The Salvation Army Church, 120 N. Ridgewood Drive.

Take a moment to call The Salvation Army office at 385-7548 to sign up for food donations, volunteering to help or sign up to attend the dinner yourselves. Free tickets are available now at The Salvation Army offices; call in reservations at 385-7548.

This is the menu of food items that are needed: dressing, potatoes, string beans, sweet potatoes, rolls, cranberry sauce, pies, cakes and brownies.

Tickets available for Ladies Christmas Tea

AVON PARK -- The women of First Christian Church will have their annual Ladies Christmas Tea at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at the church, 1016 W. Camphor St., and would like to invite all women to attend. The theme this year is "Season of Joy."

Bring your mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, friend, neighbor, or someone new. This is for ladies only, so leave the men at home. There will be entertainment, food, fellowship and fun for all who attend. The guest speaker will be Joy Baade from Lansing, Mich. and her topic is "Joy on Joy."

Tickets for the Christmas Tea are $3 each and can be purchased at the church office from 8 a.m. to noon Monday-Friday, or by calling 453-5334.
