Located in south central Florida, Highlands County is home to the 12 Hours of Sebring, America's oldest endurance race.

Founded just over 86 years ago, the area is rich in agriculture, but in the past two decades has experienced tremendous commercial and industrial growth.

The three communities that make up Highlands County welcome new business, but they maintain their historic touch with many buildings that date back to the start of those communities.

Within an hour's drive of Tampa and Orlando, population growth is on the rise as people search for a slower pace in a family-friendly area. Residents looking to leave the hurricane prone coastal areas have also made Highlands County their home. The center of the state location positions Highlands County within a 150-mile radius of more than 15,000,000 people - 85% of the state's population.

Sebring's small town atmosphere partnered with big city convenience is a huge benefit for those moving to the popular community. Highlands County is in the Sebring metro area. The estimated population in 2004 was 93,127. This was an increase of 6.59% from the 2000 census.
