SEBRING -- "Annie" opened the Highland Little Theatre 2012-2013 with laughter, music and dance. Here are some of the productions coming up this year.

"Auntie Mame" runs from Jan. 16 to 27. The show is a breezy comedy about a madcap, scatterbrained, funny and flamboyant woman who goes about raising her young nephew after he is left in her care upon his parent's death. Rosalind Russell, Angela Landsbury and Lucille Ball, have played Mame in the past.

"Sex Please, We're Sixty" Will be on-stage from Mar. 20 to 31. It revolves around a question: What would happen if Viagra is accidentally mixed with Venusia, a drug for women? This production plays things for laughs. The men taking Venusia undergo menopause, complete with mood swings and crying jags. The situation leads to plenty of misunderstandings and reactions with comic results.

"High School Musical 2" follows the highly popular "High School Musical" with the same toe tapping music. The characters are the same, if a little wiser and facing different issues and choices. The play, in addition to making great music, explores the teen-agers' world.

Three special programs are scheduled in January and February:

Jan. 12, Keith Allynn will present his stand-up routine in the Thakker Pavilion. Allynn who is well known for his impersonations of famous singers, was named Tribute Artist of the Year. Allynn has opened for Robin Williams, Chris Rock, and Tim Allen.

Feb. 14-15 there will be a special production in honor of Valentine's Day, Called "Love Songs and Letters to Loved Ones. It is a romantic medley, perfect for the occasion.

Feb. 23-24, local talent brings the circus to life in the Drs. Thakker Pavilion as Toby's Clowns bring lighthearted laughter, smiles and love. Excellent for children.

Plays have evening and afternoon performances, productions in the Thakker Pavilion vary by event.
