click any photo to view this story's photo gallery ![]() published: Wednesday, January 23, 2013 The Wacaster Family presents Faith, Family & Country Celebration By SAMANTHA GHOLAR SEBRING - It's going to be a night of music and fun for attendees of the Faith, Family and Country Celebration Under the Oaks Opry. On Saturday, Feb. 2, Sebring's own Wacaster Family will host the celebration on their property at 3414 Beck Ave., just off of Powerline Road. The Wacaster Family is a well-known Christian country/southern gospel band that travels the country performing their songs and touching the lives of their many fans. The Wacasters - composed of Darren, Hope and Matthew - have a rich history of performance going back decades. Born and raised in Sebring, general manager and singer Darren was moved to create a unique event for the residents of the area. "This is the first time we have had this concert," Darren said. "It's just something that sort of came together. Tommy (Brandt) was going to be in the area at the same time as us so we thought it'd be a great way to reach out to everybody." The Wacaster's good friend and fellow musician Tommy Brandt jumped at the opportunity to take the stage with the Wacasters. Brandt is another well-known Sebring artist with a heavy following across the states. The inspirational and gospel country singer has one numerous awards throughout his career. Together the acts will put on a show that will bring some of the best artists in Christian country to Highlands County's front doors. "It's definitely going to benefit everybody. It's going to be a great outreach event. There's going to be great music, great food, it's just going to be a great time," said Darren. Faith, Family and Country will also features the honky-tonk country Christian music of Canadian-born artist Jayc Harold Band. The band is known for its "Buck Owens style" music and is sure to excite the crowds during the event. Other performances are also scheduled for the event. The event will kick off at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2. The gates will open at 5 p.m. Admission price is $5 per person at the gate. Barbecue plates, desserts, beverages and door prizes will also be available for additional costs. "This is a first time event, we are just going to go for it and see how it goes. There's liable to be more in the future," Darren said. The Under the Oaks Opry facility is able to hold 500 people. The Wacasters are hoping to pack the house during their event.
