News-Sun staff

SEBRING - Lewis Beck, a former sales associate of the News-Sun, was killed Monday afternoon at County Road 17 and Tranquility Lane.

According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, Dakota S. Keys, 21, of Sebring was driving a 2013 Kia Soul south on County Road 17, just south of Tranquility Lane at about 1:17 p.m. For unknown reasons, Keys failed to maintain a single lane and drove into the northbound lane and into the path of the 1991 Mazda Miata being driven by Beck, 58.

The front right of the Soul struck the front of the Miata. After impact, both vehicles began to rotate before coming to a final rest.

Beck worked at the News-Sun in 2011, servicing accounts in Lake Placid.

driver.  (by: Concerned Friend of Driver.  -   3/26/2013)

Was NOT Texting, on the phone (her car had bluetooth for the record) or painting her nails... Find out how much a kia soul weighs and let me know how some wind could push her over a little. She is a good driver, has had one ticket in her life and two accidents both of which not her fault. Thanks for the concern of her safety though, for the record her knee and chest are still in pain.. not to mention the CONSTANT nightmares that reoccur that her friends deal with listening to her cry about.

Was the driver of the other car talking on the phone, texting, doing her nails?
