Man dies after being hit by truck LAKE PLACID -- A 34-year-old Lake Placid man was killed Monday night when he was struck by a truck while walking on Highlands Boulevard. According to a Florida Highway Patrol Report, Juan Isidro Diaz Silbestre was walking northbound on Highlands Boulevard at around 6:40 p.m. when he was struck by a 2005 Ford SportTrac being driven by 27-year-old Sommer N. Foster of Lake Placid. A four-year-old was also in the truck. Silbestre was transported to Florida Hospital Lake Placid, where he was pronounced dead at 7:54 p.m. The FHP report said alcohol was not a factor with Foster, but that the test was pending on the victim.
