SEBRING -- Highlands County Sheriff Deputies, the Florida Highway Patrol and the Florida Department of Transportation were all dispatched to an accident involving a fully loaded semi car carrier on Tuesday afternoon.

Around 2:40 p.m. a light blue Ford car carrier hauling nine automobiles left the road heading east on State Road 66 near Payne Road.

The driver, Sergio Delfin Mena from Miami, was hauling used cars from Nova Auto Sales to a location in north Florida.

Mena claimed that an oncoming vehicle traveling west on S.R. 66 caused him to swerve onto the shoulder on the north side of the highway and into the soft ditch. As he attempted to pull back onto the road, Mena said, his vehicle flipped over on its side, dislodging several of the vehicles it was carrying.

The driver claimed to be wearing his seat belt, and told troopers that he had not fallen asleep and was not talking on his cell phone at the time of the accident.

He pushes land from Arkansas to Arkanwhocares? Fallen television icon downgraded to pushing worthless land developments on infomercials. Actually it was bigfoot that ran out in front of him. Ironic because they were on the cell with eachother at that very moment making dinner plans with chupacabra. Apparently nobody could agree on casual dress and the distraction became overwhelming. Truckers using cellphones? They spend a whole day in C.D.L. class teaching how to shift gears while talking to that chick in the next county your wife don't know about and not skip a single shift.

I was just driving along, minding my own business when suddenly and without warning, a car, no-- make that a Winnebago appeared in my lane, or was it a deer? No, it was a cow,...Yeah, thats the ticket-- it was a cow!
Talking on the cell phone?! No way! Whaddya think I am?? A truck driver?!

Avon Park Police  (by: Concerned in AP  -   2/9/2010)

I have to wonder WHY the city continues to "hold" police officer positions for potential candidates. Could it be that they were hurt after testing but since they scored high, their "position" is being held until after their recovery. Maybe they should look at hiring people with experience that would stay with the police department instead of using it as a stepping stool for their career.
