Centennial Park to be dedicated on Earth Day
Special to the News-Sun
SEBRING - The Sebring Community Redevelopment Agency, in conjunction with the city of Sebring, announce the completion of Centennial Park and the Centennial Park Dedication and Tree Planting Ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Earth Day.
The ceremony will be held in the park, a triangle-shaped piece of property at Lakeview Drive and South Ridgewood Drive.
The property was purchased by the Sebring CRA, and the park was funded by the Sebring CRA as part of its Downtown Sebring redevelopment initiatives.
This project helps the CRA accomplish its 20-year, seven-segment redevelopment plan and addresses the topic of beautification, to beautify the driver's approach to downtown on the Parkway as an aesthetically appealing experience.
The month of April includes two very special recognitions: International Mother Earth Day is a celebration of the Earth and its ecosystems, which provide all of its inhabitants with life and sustenance.
Observed each year on April 22, this day is a call to action as it acknowledges our collective responsibility "to promote harmony with nature and the Earth" in order to "achieve a just balance among the economic, social, and environmental needs of present and future generations" of humanity.
Arbor Day encourages people to appreciate, plant and care for trees the last Friday of April.
With these two special occasions occurring in April, the Sebring Community Redevelopment Agency's Downtown Sebring monthly promotional theme for the month of April is "Celebrating Mother Earth."

The public is encouraged to attend and show support of Downtown Sebring and the local community's effort to honor Earth Day in Centennial Park.
