More summer food sites open

SEBRING -- The Highlands County School District Summer Food Service Program is a week into it's summer-long mission to feed local youth. Seven schools are offering daily breakfast and lunch to children in the community 18 years old or younger.

Service sites have been set up at four additional schools as of late last week:

-- Lake Country Elementary: breakfast 7:45-8:45 a.m.; lunch 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

-- Lake Placid Elementary: breakfast 8:30-9 a.m.; lunch 11:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

-- Lake Placid High: breakfast 7:45-8:15 a.m.; lunch 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

-- Hill Gustat Middle: breakfast 8-9 a.m.; lunch 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

-- Avon Park High: no breakfast; lunch 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

"School sites will provide breakfast and lunch meals to all children in the immediate vicinity in addition to those enrolled in summer school programs," the school board media release stated.

In addition to the school sites, over a dozen non-school sites are participating in the food service program this summer:

-- Star Program (141 Josephine Ave., Lake Placid): no breakfast; lunch 12-12:30 p.m.

-- First Baptist Wee Center: breakfast 8:30-9 a.m.; lunch 10:45 a.m.-11:15 a.m.

-- YMCA: no breakfast; lunch 10:45- 12 p.m.; snack 3-3:15 p.m.

-- Avon Park Recreation: breakfast 7:45-8:30; lunch 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

-- SFCC: breakfast 8-9 a.m.; lunch 12-12:30 p.m.

-- Busy Kids 1: breakfast 8:30-9:30 a.m.; lunch 11:30-12:30 p.m.

--Universal Martial Arts: breakfast 8:15-8:45 a.m.; lunch 11:45-12:15 p.m.

-- Victory Tabernacle: breakfast 8-8:30 a.m.; lunch 12-12:30 p.m. (ends June 22).

-- Boys & Girls Club Sebring: breakfast 8:30-9 a.m.; lunch 12-12:30 p.m.

-- Boys & Girls Club AP: breakfast 8:30-9:15 a.m.; lunch 12-12:30 p.m.

-- Busy Kids 2: breakfast 8:30-9:30 a.m; lunch 11:30-12:30 p.m.

-- Iglesia Cristiana Oasis De Restauracion: no breakfast or lunch; supper 6-6:30 p.m. (July 23-27)

-- Faith Lutheran Child Development Center: breakfast 8:30-9:30 a.m.; lunch 11:30-12:30 p.m.

-- Bountiful Blessings: no breakfast or lunch; supper 4:30-5:15 p.m. (ends June 22)

-- Highlands Academy: no breakfast; lunch 10:45-12:15 p.m.; snack 1:30-2:30 p.m.

-- Step Up Youth Ministry: no breakfast; lunch 1-2 p.m.; supper 4-5 p.m. (begins June 25).

-- Stepping Stones ELC: breakfast 7:15-8 a.m.; lunch 11:30-12:30 p.m.

-- Spring Lake Recreation Center: breakfast 8:30-9 a.m.; lunch 11:30-12 p.m.
