Martin to speak at MOAA meeting

SEBRING – Adam Martin, commander, Criminal Justice Training Academy at South Florida Community College, will brief the members of the local Military Officers Association of America at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 11 at the Military Sea Services Museum in Sebring.
All MOAA members, as well as the chapter board members, are urged to attend the briefing as well as the board meeting that follows. MOAA chapter president retired Air Force Col. Roy P. Whitton said that other interested persons are welcome to hear Martin’s presentation.
Martin is a 1994 graduate of Avon Park High School where he served as the initial group commander of the Air Force Junior ROTC unit.
Following graduation, he served as a correction officer at the Hendry County Institution, followed by joining the Lee County Sheriff’s Office until being hired a full-time police corporal of the patrol division of the Sebring Police Department from January 1998 to August 2004. He continues that position today as a part-time officer.
He served in the United States army Reserve with the 810th Military Police Company from May 2001 until June 2007 and. He later was deployed on active duty as a team leader in Kuwait and Iraq while conducting combat and non-combat missions in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He has received the following military awards – Army commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Achievement Medal and National Defense Service Ribbon.
He was the honor graduate Most Outstanding Soldier in 2002 while serving with A Company, 787th Military Police Battalion.
Martin has served as the chapter president of the Florida Association of Community Colleges while serving more than 1,200 hours of advanced criminal justice training specializing in instruction, investigation procedures and high liability topics. He has received certificates of completion from the Custom Boarder Agency within the Department of Heartland Security.
Martin’s education includes degrees of bachelor of arts in organizational management from Warner Southern University, master’s in business administration from Webster University, associate degree in arts from South Florida Community College, associates in applied science in criminal justice technology and a diploma from the United States Army Military Police School at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
Married for more than 13 years to his wife Amy, the couple has two girls, Kylie, 12 and Sydney, 8. He serves as a deacon at Grace Bible Church in Sebring, is a board member of the Circle of Truth Ministries Inc. of Sebring and a member of the Sebring Chapter of the U.S. Military Vets Motorcycle Club
