I don't blame John King for leaving. He was the best thing that ever happened to APPD and made significant improvements to the Police Department. He was also the most experienced officer APPD ever had. Several employees have told me how much they liked him and how much better the working conditions were under him. I hope he finds employment in a much better city. I also hope the next city he works for is not infested with drama like AP is. Remember, It's all political.

The city of Avon Park was lucky to have John stop by for a while . Seldom do you meet someone who was born to do the job they are in . He had the knowledge , experience to do the job very well. What ever has caused him to call it a day has to do with honor I am sure .
From working there years ago and having known Mr. King I am sure he was a great asset and he was working well below his pay grade for what he had to offer the city
The people of Avon Park never want to change things there. I feel sorry for Mr. King and the Officers of the P.D. who every day try their best to do a good job for the citizens

John King has been real shot in the arm for the AP Police Department and Fire Department. I can fully understand his wanting to resign his position given everything that has been taking place in the AP city government. I guess DeLeon didn't know when he had it good. I think AP should be renamed to "The City of Harm" instead of "The City of Charm" as that seems to be what comes to a lot of city employees.

look mr edmond, stop crying while holding your little water hose. if you dont like it then quit and im sure there are many volunteer firefighters willing to take your place. I hate these crybabies that get paid from my tax dollars. just shut up and do your job. be happy you got a job and stop whining about pensions and free money. and i will say it again, if you dont like it leave and go do some manual labor for a change to collect a paycheck instead of just sitting in the firehouse eating subs waiting for a call.

We are the laughing joke of the county because we a have a city manager that doesn't give a damn. King is the best thing that happened to AP. He cleaned up the police department and became a great and respected leader.

Sounds like John King caught on to Barrack Deleon's ways. I'm sure he would've of been forced to resign due to the high volatility of corruption that is still occurring behind closed doors. I'm sure King discovered some sort of evidence that violated PBA/City Charter violations that occurred and was precluded from any negotiations with the soon to be ruling Sheriff's Department.

I am very disappointed to hear this. Director King was what a professional should define in a dictionary. The city lost a true distinguished leader. Sounds like the Dictatorship rules again. :-(
