HCSO investigating death in Lake Placid

LAKE PLACID -- The Highlands County Sheriff's Office is treating a death in south Lake Placid as a a homicide, according to Public Information Officer Nell Hays Tuesday morning.

The investigation centers around a body discovered at 101 Apple Tree Ave. in the early morning hours, Hays said.

The details and the identity of the victim had not been released at press time.

The HCSO was attempting to notify the next of kin before more information about the death would be released.
