Jogger escapes abduction on morning run
By PHIL ATTINGER
AVON PARK -- A driver Friday morning attempted to abduct a jogger, but she got away.
The intended victim was jogging at approximately 6 a.m. in the vicinity Walmart in Avon Park when she noticed a car following her.
She continued running in the area of Shop 16 Road, on the north end of the parking lot. That's when the car pulled up beside her, the driver aimed a gun at her and ordered her to get in the car.
Instead, she ran and escaped to the nearby Bill Jarrett Ford dealership at 1305 U.S. 27 North.
When Highlands County Sheriff's deputies arrived, she described the car as a silver, four-door Nissan Altima sedan and described the driver as a heavy-set Hispanic man between 20-24 years old with a deep voice.
She described the gun as a grey or black semi-automatic pistol.
Sheriff's deputies are asking for the public's help. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Detective Nathan Coogan of the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Unit at 863-402-7250 or email@example.com.
Anyone with tips who wants to remain anonymous and eligible for a cash reward is asked to call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.heartlandcrimestoppers.org.

Thanking who? (by: Brian Iverson - 10/11/2013)
Do you thank God that the jogger fled? Thank God her being successful at fleeing? Do you thank God for allowing the potential abductor to successfully drive off? Do you thank God the man is still out there and people are feeling fear? Do you thank God for only the good things that happen & not the bad? Is the jogger to thank God for allowing her to be threatened? God & the devil are fictions that are used to make a reason for all that happens rather than admit, there are no puppet masters. Just people acting good and acting bad. No such thing as luck. And many unanswered questions.

Your chances of escape from abduction are always best at the attempt. Thank God this woman was able to think swiftly, engage in flight, and avoid capture.
