Cohan Radio Group helps with Mission Thanksgiving

Special to the News-Sun

SEBRING - The Cohan Radio Group again will support the New Testament Church and Mission with Thanksgiving in the Highlands. Radio stations 99.1FM WWOJ and Lite 105.7FM will broadcast in front of the Ideal Golf location from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, collecting cash and non-perishable food stuff.

It is an annual event for the station, which does such live broadcasts the first three Thursdays of the month of November in each of the three Highlands County municipalities - Avon Park, Lake Placid and Sebring.

Rev. Mike Karl and his wife, Pat, have run the ministry for nearly 40 years. In all that time the mission has not accepted any state, federal or local governmental funding.

"Nor will we accept any," Karl said. "We are a faith ministry and we trust in God to provide for our needs."

Since 1997, more than a million meals have been served and hundreds of thousands op people have received clothing and shelter at the mission located at the intersection of Lemon Street and the Sebring Parkway.

Those wanting additional information may call the New Testament Church and Mission at 385-0035 or go to their web page at www.newtestamentmission.org/.
