Nobody injured when school bus rear-ended

News-Sun staff

SEBRING - Nobody was injured when a school bus carrying 21 children was rear-ended at a railroad crossing on U.S. 98 Wednesday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol Report, the school bus being driven by Sharon Bunker had come to a stop at the tracks near Associate Boulevard east of U.S. 27 at 7:50 a.m. A 2010 Chevrolet Aveo driven by 20-year old Nicole Brand of Sebring also came to a stop behind the bus.

A 2008 Dodge Caliber rear-ended the Aveo, which was pushed into the bus.

The Dodge and the bus had minor damage, while the Aveo was towed from the scene.

simple observation  (by: Travis  -   11/2/2012)

Is it just me or am I missing something in that the above article names a young lady who was hit in the accident, not the cause of it "A 2008 Dodge Caliber rear-ended the Aveo, which was pushed into the bus." Was not the girl the driver of the aveo??

Accident  (by: tom walsh  -   11/2/2012)

Tell all that to the girl in the Aveo whose car was totaled because of the inattentive driving by the 17 YO.

Easy...  (by: Nicole  -   11/2/2012)

Just becuase you know the minor doesn't mean you need to defend her to anonymous people you don't know blindly. This was my first accident (I drove the totaled Aveo) and I'm almost 21. Yes, she made a mistake. But yes, she could have been more cautious as well I'm sure. Just take it easy, everyone. I'm not mad at her for anything I know she's suffering too.

Respect  (by: Joyful  -   11/2/2012)

Maybe the 17 year old (whom I know personally) made a MISTAKE. Have you ever kept your eyes on the road every single second? Have you ever dropped something and looked down to pick it up? It was that second of looking down that caused it. She was NOT being stupid. She is actually a very good, safe, cautious driver. It is things like this though that help people learn. Trust me, she is still dealing with the issue. She got a ticket for it and paying for it. Some people just need to keep rude comments at bay...

unimpressed  (by: Georgia  -   11/1/2012)

PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES, MAYBE YOUR NEWSPAPER SHOULDN'T PRINT A MINOR'S NAME IN THE PAPER... I HAPPEN TO KNOW THIS GIRL AND SHE IS AN OUTSTANDING YOUNG LADY, AND YA'LL NEED TO THINK OF THE CONSEQUENCES YOUR LITTLE STORY MAY HAVE ON OTHER PEOPLE'S LIVES! S.M.H.!

Minor  (by: Jennifer  -   11/1/2012)

I'm concerned that a minor's name is listed in this article. Whether or not she caused the accident, she is still a MINOR! Please remove her name!

Short Bus Rider  (by: Shutt  -   10/31/2012)

Maybe the 17-year-old should have been on the bus instead of driving a car. lol
